HAVE FUN. COMPETE. BE A GREAT TEAMMATE.
RISE HOOPS
Basketball is the best. The joy. The competition. The way it can bring us together in a way that not many other things can - it gives you the chance to be your best, to be tougher than you thought you could be and it shows you who you are. At RISE HOOPS, we empower athletes to develop and use their strengths on and off the court. We cultivate a supportive and competitive culture that allows players to grow in their skills, confidence, leadership, decision making, and mental toughness.

OUR STORY: COACH ANNE
"I am blessed to have been around so many impactful leaders and teammates along my basketball journey. The kind that see your worth, support you unconditionally, and hold you accountable to reach your full potential. I am grateful every day to be here and hope to give back to the game all that it has given to me. I'm here for it."
A former Division I standout, Anne founded RISE HOOPS with a mission to develop not just players, but confident young leaders through the game of basketball. A native of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, Hetzel competed for Oakland University from 2002-06 and later returned to her alma mater as an assistant coach from 2009-13. During her playing career, she helped lead the Golden Grizzles through one of the most successful eras in program history while establishing herself as one of Oakland's most reliable and efficient scorers.
As team captain she earned Mid-Continent Conference All-League First Team honors and was named Conference Tournament MVP in 2006 as a key contributor to Oakland's conference tournament championship team that earned a birth to the NCAA tournament. Following her playing career, Hetzel served as an assistant coach for Oakland women's basketball program and spent time in the Oakland Athletics Department. She later earned her MBA from the Stephen M. Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan. She, her husband, Steve, and their children Aden, Selah and Jackie, have since moved around the country as he has worked as an NBA assistant coach, while Hetzel remained involved in coaching youth teams and volunteering.
